Professional Accomplishments:
While serving as a New Jersey State Trooper, James Fennessy attended law school full-time. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Seton Hall University School of Law with a 4.0 GPA. He served on the Seton Hall Constitutional Law Journal, where he published articles addressing New Jersey criminal law, constitutional law, and civil rights issues. At graduation, James Fennessy received the Raymond Del Tufo Constitutional Law Award. He has taught constitutional law and criminal procedure classes at the New Jersey State Police Academy and Ocean County College.
Immediately after law school, he served in the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office of State Police Affairs, where his work addressed constitutional, statutory and procedural issues with regard to New Jersey State Police patrol, search and seizure practices. His experience as a retired New Jersey State Trooper, prosecutor and litigation attorney provides him with significant trial experience particularly in the areas of DWI/DUI, drugs, criminal, traffic and ordinance violations.
